Michigan Kodaly's K-5 Music Teacher Toolkit
Feeling a little unsure about teaching elementary music?
Michigan Kodály’s K-5 Music Teacher’s Toolkit is your crash course in the essential skills, strategies, and activities every K-5 music teacher needs in their back pocket. Presented by the Michigan Kodály Educators Board, this hands-on workshop is perfect for college music education students, first-year teachers, and band or choir teachers making the leap into general music. From songs and singing games to movement, rhythm, melody, and musical literacy, we’ll explore practical activities you can use tomorrow—not someday.
Build your confidence, expand your teaching toolbox, and discover how to turn a room full of energetic elementary students into a room full of musicians. Leave with fresh ideas, ready-to-use activities, and the confidence to walk into your K-5 classroom knowing, “I’ve got this!”
Who is presenting? The Michigan Kodaly Board are the collective presenters!
What is the topic? How to survive and teach elementary music & looking at music education from a Kodaly lens.
Where is it? Central Michigan University School of Music
When is it? November 21st from 10-1:30 PM.
How much does it cost? $20 for OAKE members (use code OAKEMEMBER), $30 for non-members, and FREE for students (use code STUDENT). SCECHs will also be available for free!
